Am I entitled to pay in lieu if employer hasn't met notice conditions.

Looking for some advice or someone who can point me in the direction of advice. It's a bit of a complicated one!
We were told as of 1st sept 2018 we would have no job to go to, this was back in early June and to await the paperwork finalising our 3 months notice period in the coming weeks. We have received formal notice today ( July 11) which is not three months as stated in contracts. We were told we would receive payment in lieu as the business would not be open from sept. My query is that I have secured a new job, but not handed notice in at my current job as I was awaiting formal notification. But financially could not wait to secure a job. Will I still be entitled to any payment in lieu as the employer has not given three months notice???

Not if you are terminating your employment with your present company.
You will be paid till the end of the notice you have given .
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Don't resign stay on till end Aug get your payment then start the new job.

if you want to leave earlier you will have to negotiate.
