Hi all - just some advice - been away to central america two months ago - a few days ago £400 went from my bank account to a courier service based in Panama. I called Starling bank to report it as fraud and followed there advice eg block card etc. I provided a written letter to say I as happy for them to investigate it. Today I have contacted them as I am coming close to my over draft limit to see when the money will be refunded - but they have said the do not know  i have explained the situation as it is a large chunk of money but they say they cannot give me an answer.
Is this right?
I read on the FCA website that the bank should refund you no later than the next working business day of being informed.
What do other people think?

Refunds are on the basis Starling accepts it as fraud and so far they have not done that.
Additionally they can delay a refund if there is reasonable eveidence to suggest it is not fraud.
True and I'm aware of both Of these factors. If Starling thinks it was fraud I wish they would just contact the police so i can try & get the ball rolling so I can get the money back . 5 days later and still cannot get any answers about when or if Sterling will refund the transaction. :mad:0 -

This is why it's better to use a credit or even a prepaid card abroad.
With a credit card, it's not your money and a prepaid would almost certainly decline if no funds available. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
