How to attach telephone extension cable?

Rather than run along the top of the skirting, I'd look at seeing if you can lift the edge of the carpet and tuck it under the skirting. Every house I've lived in, the skirting doesn't go right to the floor. We have a wired burglar alarm system and the cables are all out of sight under the floors upstairs, or the skirtings downstairs.

Hot glue gun is much cleaner than those photos

As per above example the distance between fixing is too great and the cable start to wave. You want the internode spacing between fixing to be smaller, and you can tug and glue

Done correctly, you wont see the glue on the cable or wall. and you can put the cable right to the edge.
