<The offer she has recieved states that if she does not accept what they offer they will give her the value of the specification fridge in a money voucher. >

As she is dealing with a warranty take the above offer .
Consumer rights refunds will not be so good 4 years from purchase

<1) just under £100 cheaper than the original fridge
Prices come down in 4 years . It should be depending upon the terms of the warranty similar specifications .

Try and find a fridge freezer they are selling that is more suitable and express a preference for that perhaps?

Had a JL telly break down after 4 years, took the sum offered and got a telly with better spec. Win Win.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    What are her rights?

Her rights will be the terms stated in the extended warranty that she bought. So she should read those terms as a starting point.

Although she can try asking for better terms, as a 'goodwill gesture', if she wants.

FWIW, the JL website currently says about 5 year "Added Care":
    New for old replacement

If we can't repair your appliance, we'll arrange for it to be replaced with one of the same make and model up to the original purchase price. Or, when not available, one of a similar specification.

    ....

    Old appliance disposal

Starts after John Lewis guarantee ends

If your product needs replacing we'll dispose of your old one for free (this service does not extend to American-style fridge freezers, range cookers, and some direct from supplier orders).

    https://www.johnlewis.com/our-services/added-care#homeapp

But your relative needs to check the terms when she bought 5 years ago, rather than the current terms - in case they've changed.

It's not a new for old cover: she has had 4 years use from it.
Unless the extended warranty says otherwise, of course they are not obliged to take the old one away. This is normally charged at £15. Many LA's offer disposal of white goods, some FOC, some chargeable.
PS: it's daft buying a 5 year warranty on an item that already has a 2 year manufacturer's warranty. Buy it independently after the 2 years are up, probably at half the price.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
