HELP ! What is this ?

On my tool bar a red circle with a white cross has appeared from somewhere, a balloon keeps popping up saying "your computer is infected" when i click on it, it opens this website http://www.antivirus-gold.com/?wm=

also my desktop as gone black with a large box saying
"Warning You're in danger, secure yourself right now, remove all spyware from your pc "

I've run a virus check, spyware & adware removal program's. but when I've removed it and re-start the computer it's still there.

What is it ? where did it come from ?? and how the hell do I get rid of it for good ???

well at least i know what it is now

just need to figure out how to get rid of it knowing my luck i'm bound to delete summat i shouldn't :eek:

**UPDATE**

well i've finally managed to get rid of the red circle/white cross from my tool bar

however i've still got the black desktop screen with the warning

I've tried to restore to a previous date but for some reason it goes through it all then i get a meesage at the end saying it was unable to restore to that date ?

I cant get into regedit either, when i try to bring it up I get a black box with this message:
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

C:|WINDOWS|system32\regedit.com
C:|WINDOWS|SYSTEM32|AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file i not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications

I'm completely out of idea's and don't have a clue what to do next, any suggestions of what to try would be greatly appreciated.

Well it's took me best part of two days, but i've almost got it sorted, i can access regedit no problem and my screen is almost back to normal, the black warning screen as completely gone, and i'm left with an inch width of white down the right hand side, which i can move back and forth like a curtain lol. I have absolutely no idea why's it's there, but i'm too tired and fed up to bother with it now, so unless anyone has a solution, i'm afraid it's just gonna have to stay there,

In that case Rush, pull that curtain across when anyone else wants to use the PC and tell them its still broke :rotfl:
