Abbey passbooks

Hi,
Could other Abbey passbook owners let me know if the passbooks contain their signatures. I had a query at my local branch and it came out that passbooks should have my signature. I did not have it with me at the time so i could not show them which account i had. Mine only has my name typed in it.
Also they looked at me funny when i said that the other account owner still need to "verify signature". I was told this when i picked up the book once the account was opened. i was told that the other account owner had to bring an id to verify the signature on the system. But now they don't know what i am on about.
