Halifax clarity card

Ive just applied and been successful in obtaining a Halifax Clarity Card for use abroad.

Just a quick question, is it better to pay my bills/purchases in Sterling or Euro's? (Going to Malta on first trip with card).

Sure i saw this site said best to pay in Euro's, but the when speaking to the advisor at Halifax she said best to pay in Sterling as the retailer etc sets the exchange rate?

Please can someone advise

Not sure if the adviser was having a bad day - but paying in sterling makes the clarity card entirely pointless so always always pay in the local currency.

Thankyou so much for clarifying this!.

I did press her again on this matter when she said that. I said i had seen the opposite said on this site. She again confirmed that it was always best to pay by Sterling and thus retailer cannot set the exchange rate!..

So it it with 100% confidence i am going to listen to what you have said and always pay in local currency!.. phew thanks for the help.

I have sorted out a very complicated mortgage, credit rating etc using this site, thanks for all the invaluable help!... Keep up the good work.

    Warm Wishes
