in Credit cards
Hi guys,
Just checking, but wasn't there a change recently to the way and how card payments took place? - tied into some Contactless stuff?
I ask because yesterday at a Nisa Local I was told at the till that I couldn't use Contactless (they had a Contactless reader) or my card for anything under £10. No offer to take a charge, just that it couldn't be done
Not experienced this is ages!
Thanks.

Now that shops can no longer charge a fee for accepting card payments many are implementing a minimum spend for card payments as in this case. This is perfectly acceptable under the new legislation.0

Okay, that's great! I wonder how long before that's gone also?0

The same day that prices go up even further for everyone.0

Lots of stores have a min spend for debit and credit cards. Not unusual in my area0

Minimum spends do seem to be disappearing, mostly because retailers are starting to wake up and ditch their bank's card reader.
My local pub used to get charged by their bank (wait for it) £30 per month to rent the machine, then 50p plus 3% on every transaction. On my suggestion, they've now switched to iZettle and paid £30 to buy (i.e. not rent) the machine, plus about 2% for each transaction. No minimum spend needed anymore.0
