Historic Accounts with no paperwork

Options
Has anyone had any success claiming PPI without paperwork? I am talking going back in excess of 20 years when I took out loans/mortgage with Alliance and Leicester and also a store card with M&S. Have tried my credit report but only goes back a few years. Both institutions say no records kept but funnily enough A&L were able to see my historic investment accounts, which again were closed approx 20 years ago!
How could a claims company find the info if I can’t - is there a way I’m not aware of? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The simple answer is that a Claim Management Company cannot do anything you cannot do yourself alone and for free.
Claim companies charge an extortionate fee because they can, not because they provide a specialist service.

With no record of the finance available from either side, any complaint is a dead duck with or without a CMC.

All you can do is request a SAR and see what it comes back with, it's quite possible the old debt accounts are gone however, there is no requirement for them to keep the records for so long after the account was closed

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Nothing funny there. Investment class business was regulated in 1988. Mortgage class business was only regulated in October 2004 and insurance class regulated from Jan 2005. So, better record keeping on investment class would be expected.

They cant. The CMC would ask the same staff you asked. They do nothing that you have not done.
