Managing the guilt factor

It's very difficult to give advice because there are so many different scenarios. Social Services look after people with no family whatsoever. Whenever they visit they take the names, addresses and phone numbers of family, friends and neighbours who may help. Whenever there is an issue they are phoned. If everyone refuses social services do it. I was the nearest with my parents so felt I was on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. My sister was farther away and did very little. I ended up as a live in carer (whilst also working long hours). That was hell. So you could be - daughter lives abroad can't help. Daughter lives a few hours away (optimum in my experience) or daughter coming to look after them. Very difficult issues for society with an ageing population.0
