Pension (Guarantee) Credit & Carers Allowance

Options
Hi,
I've spent a long time trying to find an answer to this query but can't find a direct answer, I hope someone can help me.
My husband used to receive Carers Allowance for looking after me until he turned 65 at which point he began claiming State Pension and he received the Guarantee element as he still had/has carers responsibility for me. He is now 71 and while still providing a lot of my care, he is understandably finding it physically and mentally draining. 2 of our adult daughters have offered separatley to provide respite care for me overnight so my husband can at least begin to sleep properly and i can still receive care which is wonderful.
However we can't discover whether if I had care from one or other member overnight and they received Carers Allowance for me if my husband would still be entitled to the Guarantee element of Pension Credit for caring for me during the day. The only official advice I could obtain was to go ahead and arrange this and the daughter concerned to apply for Carers Allowance but my husband does not want to do this if it means he will lose his guarantee element of Pension Credit because if he does so our Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Support could be affected from what we understand, as well as prescriptions etc.
To help make things a little clearer these are the benefits we currently receive.
State Pension
Pension (Guarantee) Credit
Child Benefit for 17 yr old in full-time education
Child Tax Credit for 17 yr old in full-time education
ESA (Support Group)
DLA (Higher Mobility Component, used for Motability car) - husband
PIP (mobility - enhanced rate)
PIP (personal care - enhanced rate)
Housing Benefit
Council Tax Support

Thanks for reading this and for any advice/information that anybody can give.
Kate

Two people cannot claim carers allowance for looking afer you, if he can!!!8217;t look after you for the 35 hours a week (there is no set criteria for carers allowance) them he can!!!8217;t claim carers for you. The premium on PC for carers is £34 per week, so is your GC more or less than that? If is more you may still retain an entitlements as it may not be the premium hat is keeping it in payment. If you use something like entitled to, that should give you an idea
