Not so strange. Most visitors to the memorial at Auschwitz stay in Krak!w. The town of Oświęcim is small and not many people want to hang around there.
I agree there are other strange things though, like the amounts of money.
Krak!w is by the way notorious for things like this. And the police are very little use for a reason you might guess.
Anybody else think it strange that Jon357 created an account on the same day that he revitalised this fantasy thread? Even stranger then that OP suddenly reappeared to add information that included the following snippets:-Deleted_User wrote: »...Following the event I instantly logged a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman....

Please think before you post online.
You would be hard pushed to raise a complaint with the Ombudsman 'instantly' following the event. To then claim to have a ruling in less than a week is equally implausible.
So, OP, perhaps you should take a leaf out of your own book and think before posting online.0 -
I can see what you are suggesting but I have nothing to do with Jon357.
You have also misunderstood most of my post. I complained to starling instantly at the time. When they refused I contacted the FOS instantly.
They delayed looking in to it for nearly a year due to their workload issues with PPI. When they finally came back to me there was a week between being told they were investigating and then being told they ruled in my favour.
I now know that it was an adjudicator and not an Ombudsman that ruled but since querying this with the FOS, Starling have now agreed to pay me back.
The facts of this case are that an individual has been assaulted and robbed in a foreign country. Irrespective of whether you believe i should be refunded or not, the abuse has been completely uncalled for. Had this happened to a woman I'm sure the response would have been different.
Unfortunately it proves that the internet (or the human race in general) is not a place to turn for assistance. I thought MSE would be different but you've all proved me wrong.
Thankfully i can try and put this behind me now and I certainly wont be coming back here for any help in future.0 -
Sorry you feel that way - forums are public and there will always be people who disagree with you. I also believe many think it gives you a level of disjointness from real life to say things that they would not dream of in person - including posting for a reaction.Deleted_User wrote: »I can see what you are suggesting but I have nothing to do with Jon357.

A friend of mine was out in this country, and had a large ATM withdrawal fraud as a result of having drink spiked - banked with a big UK bank that now splashes its fraud guarantee everywhere and wouldn't treat it as fraud because PIN was used - got the money back after FOS involved too. So it doesn't just happen abroad or to the newer smaller banks.0
