Bannatyne's, parking fines

Hi, I joined Bannatyne in Eastbourne about two weeks ago as I am contracting down there, I live near Norwich in Norfolk so when I'm not in Eastbourne I go to the Norwich gym.

The operating systems are completely different in both locations. e.g. Partking in Eastbourne is completely free and I assumed that this was also the case in Norwich, last week I got a letter from Parking Eye, demanding £60.00 for parking for one hour 30 minutes in the car part.

I would have like to point out that I'm a full member paying £50.00 a month and that I was using the Gym, but I am unable to do this because there is no way to contact anyone at Parking Eye, they have no email address and no telephone number.

I complained to Bannatyne but they are unable to do anything, I used the online form to submit an appeal. Today I heard back saying they would drop the fee to £20.00 but having checked online its still at £60.00.

I'm very annoyed about this, yes now that I know Norwich has a system for registering the number plate whilst onsite to prevent this, I was not told up front.

I'm very unhappy with both Bannatynes and Parking Eye, so much so that I am considering cancelling my membership and walking away.

Parking Eye's initial letter also threatens a £100 fine if the fee is not paid. Someone pointed out to me today that only Government councils have the right to do this and that private companies have no legal write to pursue individuals for fines....I was also advised to post here to ask and get advice.

I've now received two letters stating that the fine will be reduced to £20.00, however if I check the link provided in the letter it is still £60.00 and I have no way of contacting the company to question.

I've been told by a few people that a private company like "Parking Eye" has no right or means of enforcing this fine, can anyone advise what my legal wrights are?

Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the Newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread

Before you go there urgently edit all your personal information from the post.

You look to have used your real name as your forum name

Explain to MSE you inadvertently used your real name and ask to change it to something completely anonymous

    Also is that your portrait?????

Wow, delete this thread, you can't out yourself to PE like this...you may have to hit 'REPORT'.

You might want to ask Barry Beavis (Google him). Your friends who said that are clueless.
last week I got a letter from Parking Eye, demanding £60.00 for parking for one hour 30 minutes in the car part.
Appeal it, online as registered keeper, as you read in 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD

Not a great start and not a very welcoming forum. Very disappointed!
  • sorry , "magic bullets" are not issued within the first 12 hrs of a posting

1: parking eye cannot issue fines (as police/magistrates do) but they CAN and do issue invoices

2: the £20 sounds like they may be on a sticky wicket with this case , do they have authority to start court proceedings , do you feel lucky?

please , please spend an evening reading https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822/newbies-private-parking-ticket-old-or-new-read-these-faqs-first-thankyou 99% of your questions will be answered and suggested action suggested

yes , contact the gym , if the land belongs to them (they hire PE) then do a big kick off sand cancel membership , reminding them that the "cowboys" they hired , caused them a £600 per yr loss

Thank you, I will read the rules in the link posted. I will also try contacting Bannatyne!!!8217;s again.
  • sorry , NOT rules , just a link that after reading carefully will answer most questions , if you are still struggling after reading it , then ask away , you are dealing with the scum of the earth , back by many people in power , its all about fleecing the public

as a point of interest , did you know that upto recently the government owed 8% of parking eye?

Diddums. It's quite disappointing that as a new user you didn't think to attempt to help yourself before wading in asking for the unpaid people volunteering their time to do everything for you. Not a great start from you either, really.

    1) The ppcs monitor this forum and can use posts in your thread against you

    2) You break the MSE forum rules by revealing your identity like this! (But revealing it to the PPC is why you have been so forcefully advised by us here!)

ParkingEye already know that Simon Platten is the registered keeper of the vehicle.

They now know that Simon Platten was driving the car that day.

You have carelessly thrown away any protection the keeper may have had.

    Good luck, you'll need it.
