    Fiat Panda.
    Citroen C1.
    Nissan Micra.
    Smart ForFour.
    Chevrolet Spark.
    Skoda Citigo.
    Volkswagen Up

Look at others, Yaris or other Smart cars with small engines, they may be upto group 3.

Group 1 cars may not always be the cheapest option, try a few quotes for cars which may be popular with older drivers rather than new drivers getting a first car.

As above just because its a group 1 does not mean it will be cheaper to insure than a car in a higher group.

As above. My 19 year old son had a 1.25L Fiesta which cost him £1250 to insure. He blew up the engine on it and whilst looking around found a 2L Ford Mondeo Estate. Jokingly he got a quote on the insurance and it was £500 cheaper than the Fiesta. He ended up buying the Mondeo and also found that the Police weren't taking any notice of the car either.

Someone was asking about this on another forum, apparently older Saab's are also cheap on insurance (also cheap to buy and good if you crash!)

Another weird one. I did a new direct line quote a few months ago, saved the quote and then did a new one with 3 points and it was a tiny bit cheaper.

It is probably because 3 point users are crashing less or driving safer. It does make sense.

There is great pleasure in driving a small slow car fast , especially if it has spoilers.

I would recommend a 1.0 L Vauxhall Corsa C for a greta run around. You can pick up very low mileage ones (30K and below) for under 2 grand now. They are bullet proof cars, still look pretty modern and don't believe the bad reviews about them. They are more than fit for purpose for a run around. I have paid £150 for an annual 5K miles policy.

    Bullet proof? Are you sure?

Nephew went through 3 of them in as many weeks, all 3 leaked oil badly.

OK the 1st one may have had something to do with being upside down?

2nd one had a major oil leak and the engine went pop.

3rd one may have had something to do with the front wheels pointing in different directions after kerbing it.

If they are bullet proof why so many breaking for spares? even low mileage ones.
