oh dear! I sold my property about 5 months ago and as I was in temporary accomodation could not transfer the SKY package and could not disconnect because my contract was binding through the Broadband so since then they have "forced" us to keep the account active even though we are not using it and paying £15 a month for the pleasure of it.
Now we are moving in our new property I called up to reconnect - despite my dissatisfaction with them - as in the area I am moving there is no other digital service. They told me that to re-connect with my old equipment would be £50 and if I want sky plus it would be £150 + (cant remember exactly i didnt even register what he was saying). I asked if they had any deals about free upgrade and he said he never heard of free sky plus in 5 yers he worked there :rotfl: and asked me where I heard it from...
I told him that I would think about it before reconnecting and he said that I am not binded to sky tv only to broadband until end of november then added that if I thought to disconnect and make a new connection to think again because it would not change anything i would still have to pay all that money, very conderscending and patronising.
Unfortunately when I gave my details they asked my new details so they have already registered my new address in their database, but is there anyway around this???
I really wish I had another option I dont really want to give in to them!!!
Thanks folks!

From what I remember you probably could have transfered under the homemovers offer but you are only allowed to do this once then you get charged full rates for the second move. As for the "forced" you to keep the contract.. You did sign up for 12 months so not really thier fault.bikebarbie wrote: »Now we are moving in our new property I called up to reconnect - despite my dissatisfaction with them - as in the area I am moving there is no other digital service. you would have been better letting your contract run out then re register as a new customer. The free Sky+ was for people that were threatening to cancel thier sky package. As you dont have it anyway I dont think you are in the best position to get the offer. I dont even think they are doing the free upgrade now anyway. you might get it for £100 if you can get a good sales rep.bikebarbie wrote: »I told him that I would think about it before reconnecting and he said that I am not binded to sky tv only to broadband until end of november then added that if I thought to disconnect and make a new connection to think again because it would not change anything i would still have to pay all that money, very conderscending and patronising.

You could always try using completely different details now and going through QUIDCO to get the £110 back.. But beware it is only for NEW subscribers so you would have to make sure that it was registering you as one because you wont know if its tracked until you sign up for another 12 months0 -
If you still have all your kit, why dont you ask a local
tv satellite man, for a quote to reinstall it all again
might well be cheaper than skys reinstall fee0 -
thank you for your replies and suggestions I know that it want their fault for being tied in the contract but it is frustrating knowing that many people got it for free or much less and we have to pay the full wack but this is how life goes sometimes...was just needing to let steam off in a way... thanks again

Don't we all but, as they have something of a monopoly, we learn to live with them.bikebarbie wrote: »I hate SKY !!!!!0
