Websites built in Word are awful - not the design but the coding. It adds so much crap and weird stuff it's just not worth the hassle. Downloading Dreamweaver trial and use that. I'm sure it's even got an option to strip out the crap from any Word created webpages that you load into it.
The reason it's not showing other browsers and OS's is that the coding isn't properly HTML compliant. IE understands all the crap coz it's an MS product... everything else will just laugh at the coding. Steer well clear of Word for webpages.0 -
Couldn't agree more, don't touch anything like Word with a bargepole, for anything near an ok site you need to use a proper tool. As Psychofly says, Word produces some of the worst HTML ever, full of rubbish that browsers dislike, and completely against the standards set for the web.
Try checking the code it produced with a validator such as:
http://validator.w3.org/
As you are trying to market yourself as a business on-line, you really need a professional website. I suggest you either learn a good tool yourself (Dreamweaver being my recommendation, but it's complex!), or pay someone to create one for you.
Also, my final tip: having your e-mail in plain text on your site, will give rise to a massive amount of spam in the future too.0 -
personally i would use notepad and google to understand website coding ...teaches you the basics and would look much better than what you have now (if i saw that id stay well clear of it due to the lack of presentation)
google html basicsSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
http://www.servage.net/page/websitebuilder/ here is a freeby too, got to be better than Word, I use dreamweaver CS3 for my site, real easy to use and can be got for free for 30 days http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ or longer if you know what your doing;)There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

If all you want is a very basic, free, web page designer that (from my personal experience at least) displays in most browsers, do a search on Google for Netscape Composer - it's the website designer was was bundled in with the Netscape Navigator browser. It is VERY basic, but with a little practise you can set up some reasonable, though not particularly flashy, web pages. There is an updated version available as part of the (again free) SeaMonkey browser project.
