car trouble

hello

PLEASE can someone help me i cant get advice from anywhere???

since february 2007 we have been without a car - its been terrible :0(

our engine is dud, we have a suzuki wagon R Y-reg........... is in good condition apart from not having a working engine (lol!)

we need to do something now....as we have money saved up about £1,200

is the best thing to do get a re-con / 2nd hand engine, and then trade the car (we want to get rid of the car as we dont like it we want a different car) nothing fancy) if we get an engine surely we'd be able to trade it in for about £1,000+ odd?

at the moment its worthless but we dont want to just get rid of it. i dont know what the mileage is.

what do we do? we need a car now as its coming into winter and we have the money to finally do something.:T

trouble is if we just pick a random garage im worried they'll rip us off as we're young and inexperienced. i phone one garage near us and they quote £800 - £1000 for 2nd hand engine and £500 for labour?

is this right?

please please please help i am useless with cars (apart from being able to drive them (lol!)

If your car is worth 1000 with a working engine (how about valid MOT? you'll need one of those) and it does not have one at present, then you might aswell sell it in the condition it is in. You won't make any profit from fitting a working engine, you will most likely make a loss.

It really is only worth it for someone good at DIY on cars.

What is wrong with the engine?

Have you phoned around scrap yards to see if they have your engine? and ask them if they can do the swap for you.....but most scrapyards are only good at ripping things apart they can't put things back topgether again.
  • 2md hand engione could be 500 quid. then Its a lot of labour to remove "dud" one and install new one... Bill could be a 1000 quid. If you get 1000 px for it, then you will have been better off weighing it in for £75 somewhere...

you could get a secondhand engine for between£100/£250 fitting would be apx £300

to be honest it is not worth messing about with use the cash you have as a deposit or to buy another car outright,

what area are you from if kent I can poss help more,

a scrapper will give you apx £50/£75 thats a good ammount of fuel for your next car,

depending what you are looking for you can get a decent car for £1200 ish
