Knocking through kitchen diner to dining room

We have a largish L-shaped kitchen diner, and seperate dining room next to it. We're getting a new kitchen put in (which will extend into the diner part of the room with breakfast bar/island in the centre, and are planning to move the dining table into the dining room, as we currently don't use this room.

We're thinking about whether to knock through into the dining room as well because the kitchen diner doesn't get much light at the moment (whereas the dining room gets loads), but the cost is slightly eye watering and because we've already got a kitchen diner, I'm not sure whether it's really necessary.

The floor plan is below (dining room is currently called 'sitting room')



The cost is coming in at near £4k. £3k for labour, materials, skip and RSJ, £300 for building regs, £500 for structural engineer. I'm not sure it's worth it.

My idea would be to wait until the new kitchen is in (plus better lighting) to see how we use the space. Obviously knocking through a wall after putting a kitchen in isn't ideal but should be doable.

Any thoughts?!

It doesn't give any sizes but I think I would leave it as it is and have a separate dining room. Love having my dining room separate even though it's not used that much as we also have a kitchen/diner.
