Never happened, so the question is moot. Are you now living under a bridge?0

What do you mean it never happened? It has - i just spoke to the sending bank and reported the issue - from their point of view the transaction has not been made and there is nothing they can do at their end. I cant get hold of the recipient bank to report the issue yet - will see what they say when their lines are open.0

It's not real money so of course not.Hi all
I have recently been transferring money to savings accounts from a house sale to I can temporarily protect it while I decide what to do with it. One of my savings accounts has a linked account to my current account which can be used to transfer money in.
I used that to transfer £80k to my account but then realised that there was a transfer limit of £20k per account per day so assumed that the transfer would fail.
I then started moving money in £20k lump sums by sending from my current account to a point where I had less than £80k in my account.
Yesterday morning I check my account ad it had suddenly done to -£40k and could see that the transfer of £80 had been successful. A few hours later my account went back into credit and I contacted the bank and they said the direct debit had failed.
Yesterday afternoon I check again and my current account was fine, as if the £80k transfer had never happened. However, £80k has now been credited in my savings account !
I thought that overnight the systems would resolve themselves but the £80k is STILL in my savings account.
There is clearly a system error somewhere, but at the end of the day, since I sent money to myself and does not involve another person, can I keep the £80k??
You mention direct debit, is this actually a direct debit to pull cash from the current account to the savings account? Direct debits take several days to process.0 -
I think it was just an error in the use of words by the OP, their post is riddled with errors. It beggars belief that people ask this question ("can I keep the money") in the first place as the answer is pretty obvious. It's not real money so of course not.
