What hook/screw will be strong enough for a heavy-ish chandelier (7.5 kgs)?

I'm putting up a heavy-ish wrought iron chandelier. It weighs about 7.5 kgs.

I want to hang it in exactly the same place as the old light since there was a decorative ceiling rose that I'll put back, and the ceiling that was covered by the rose isn't pretty.

In this picture is a small screw hook that I put in just to verify where the hook needs to go. (I hung the lightweight top part of the lamp from it. The red spot is just marking out where it needed to go.)

It's probably hard to tell from the picture, but the hook goes into the bottom of a joist near the side of the joist, with the screw at an angle in towards the center of the joist, if that makes sense. Like this:
 __________

 \_ _______|

 C

The `\` is a sliver of wood missing from the bottom edge. You may see in the photo that the screw is close to the edge caused by that missing sliver, but the joist continues above the missing sliver.

Now I'm trying to figure out what kind of hook I need to get to hold the full weight of the chandelier. I have no idea about what length or thickness of screw will be enough. The hook itself can't be too big since it wouldn't all fit between the joist and the ceiling rose.

Any suggestions about the size of screw?

Also, does it seem reasonable to screw it into the side of the joist at an angle like this? My thinking was that it would be less likely to splinter if going away from the edge, and also that the angle would hold the weight better than going completely vertical.

I was considering if it might be worthwhile to screw another piece of wood onto where the splinter is missing so that the hook won't be close to the edge, but maybe that's not necessary.

You need something like these ceiling light hooks: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Industrial-Ceiling-Hook-Light-Hook-For-Pendant-Lights-Lamps-Conduit-Chandelier-/281869418727

There are a large variety on eBay. You should be able to find something small enough, with a bit of looking. Consider a decorative hook, even if the ceiling rose will eventually hide it.

The advantage of this type of hook is that they have holes for three screws. If you are careful with positioning it, you should be able to get two screws into the underside of the joist, and put a long third screw (biggest and longest that will fit) into the joist where the sliver of wood is missing. I would pre-drill all the holes, and I would angle the third screw slightly so that it is heading towards the centre of the joist. I would only do so very slightly - say 5 or 10 degrees

Doing this will avoid the need to shape a piece of wood to replace the splinter. It is perfectly ok not to drive the third screw fully home; leave as much thread exposed as you need to get the baseplate of the hook level. You can also fit a piece of wood to replace the splinter and this will make the hook rock solid. I would use glue and some very thin screws to fit the piece of wood in place and hold it while the glue dries.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

tacpot12: Thank you so much! That's really helpful and seems an excellent way forward.

that: Haha, I've seen that one before. If only they'd asked on here first ;)

After some research based on tacpot's suggestion I found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ceiling-Chandelier-pendant-European-fitting/dp/B00IXYIGZQ/

Very low profile (15 mm) so it should fit under the ceiling rose, and supposedly can support 8 kgs which is ideal. If I fix the splintered wood plus use very long screws it seems like it should work great.

Personally I would get something that supports more than 8kg, especially if you have kids, or friends with kids. All it takes is for kids to throw a string up there and use it as a crane, or a balloon on a string get stuck and pulled, or an over zealous light bulb remover, or people grabbing at Xmas decorations
