Removing Tile Adhesive

I have a tiled bathroom floor.

Three tiles were loose so I lifted them. Plan was quick tidy up, relay and regrout.

Problem is the three tiles have adhesive on the back which I need off to relay.

Whats the best way to get the adhesive off???

I would just try to chip it off using a blunt screwdriver or similar.

    Orbital sander.
  • I was recently given a tip for this and was amazed when it worked! Immerse the tiles in water with a little washing up liquid. Soak for 10 mins then you can scrape the adhesive off.

Yeah try soaking them in warm water, I tried a wall paper steamer and that worked ok as well.

Yes, I've removed tile adhesive by washing it off before too. However in my case they hadn't been on the wall long before we changed our minds. Good luck, hope it works

I have done it a few times, a wall paper stripper works great. The soak in warm water also works but I always over soaked it and was worried about the amount of water left to penetrate the walls and floors.

Being a bit more careful this probably wont be an issue.
