HTC mobile switch on/off sporadically

Sorry if wrong board but my htc has been switching itself off numerous times this am & it take many attempts pressing the on button for me to get it back on, only for it to switch off again after a couple of minutes!
I noticed the screen was fuzzy/had skipping line yesterday whilst re-charging which it's never done before but, never thought much of it till now. Is it a battery issue or is the phone maybe knackered, it's less than 15mths old & well looked after?!
