Third Party phone unlock

Hi,
I have just had an experience with an online service called"directunlock", who initially charged me £12.99 to unlock my Samsung Galaxy A5 from Vodafone. I was then asked for a further £19.40, which I stupidly paid, not suspecting a scam, until I the received an email to say my unlock had been unsuccessful because my phone is "unfortunately marked by the carrier as Blocked/In-Contract/Outstanding Finance - Premium Service Required. A handset can be blocked for non payment of bills, bad ESN or contract issues". This of course, is untrue. They stated that I needed to provide proof to obtain a refund. When I replied that I had contacted Vodafone who told me that they will unlock my phone for free and sent me a code in a couple of days and therefore I wished to cancel my request for their service, within the 14 day period, as is my right, I heard nothing from them....and no refund, despite 3 emails to reiterate my cancellation.
BEWARE....I believe this to be a scam and can see no recourse to get my money back and so feel compelled to report this company on this brilliant forum, to warn everyone to be vigilant with third party phone unlocking services.
