Edit: Just tried this using Edge browser and the problem isn't showing. Is there a fix within Chrome for this?

Second Edit: Just searched and found a number of possible solutions. For me, simply pressing the INS key solved the problem. Actually pressing the INS key toggles this 'problem' on and off, so I must have inadvertently pressed it some time. The thing is, the problem only exhibits in Outlook email, not my other editing program (LibreOffice). Anyway, problem solved.

Original post:

I'm having an odd problem recently. Not had it before, I recon.

When I compose an email in Outlook Email and I make a spelling mistake or want to change some text, I cannot place the cursor between letters.

Instead, when I left click, I get a thin blue rectangle that always appears over a letter or number, never in between. The width of the blue rectangle matches the width of the character (wider for capitals). Then when I type, it overwrites the new character in place of the old, so that I am overwriting the text rather than entering new text at the cursor position. Very frustrating.

Any idea whats gone wrong here? I'm using Win 10 and Chrome browser. While I wait for a reply, I'll try Edge. Ta.

Try pressing the insert button on your keyboard to toggle the feature on and off ..

May or may not work - but worth a try

Cheers. I got there at the same time as you. Very odd this. Only a problem with Outlook Email and Chrome. Doesn't appear with LibreOffice or Outlook email with Edge.

    Thanks again.
