If you ask a housing association if you can buy your property if right to acquire becomes law they will say yes. Just as generally speaking a council tenant has the right to buy. However these Housing Associations own 1000s of properties and they don't know exactly which one is which. It isn't until you actually submit an application to buy that you will find out if your property is one of the exempt ones because it is adapted for a disabled person.
  • The only different context is Money how i see it, Money is what it all boils down too at the end of the day. It does to them , it does to me, it does to you, it does to everyone. Quite clearly its all about money. Mps with genuine interests still objecting, Mps with no doubt no genuine interest/ undeclared dodgy hidden secret interest, s still objecting, the whole think stinks from top to bottom. As does the whole system that governs us. werent that long ago i got a rebate on his mistake they made with the 10's/100,000's of people under payed since 2012 benefits. They contacted me about it lol Anyway like i said i shall ask away to who i can, in some sort of authority and ask them. All be it probably wasted

Money and the law is what it boils down to.

When a HA sells a house under RTA they get certain rebates to enable them to replace it.

If a housing association went outside of this (despite the fact that in doing so they would be breaking the law regarding the disposal of social housing) they would not be entitled to the rebates allowing them to replace it and provide housing to someone else who needs it.

And before you say it, I'm not saying or implying you don't need it, I'm just saying that if you take a house from their stock then it is only right that the HA be able to replace it.
  • And it continues..... HAVENT I ALREADY STATED I HAVE ALREADY APPLIED FOR THE RIGHT TO ACQUIRE, BEEN GIVEN THEIR VALUATION, TOTAL PRICE, ETC THUS KNOWING FULL WELL ITS FOR SALE AND NOT ONE OF THESE ADAPTED PROPERTIES YOU KEEP REFERRING TOO. I HAVENT SIGNED OR AGREED YET AS I HAVE A SET TIME DATE TO DECIDE, WHICH FUNNY ENOUGH IS WHERE I AM AT NOW AND KEEP STATING DID I NOT?? SO YES THEY'LL SELL AND NO ITS NO GOING TO BE ONE OF THE LIST THAT THE WONT. I ASKED THIS STRAIGHT AWAY WITH MY INITIAL INQUIRY

And so do I Da_rule. I fully agree it should be replaced. But thats up to the dodgy mp's and others lurking in the wings ready to benefit hugely from. Not my issue , even though it actually some how is. You cant tell me that fat cats are already rubbing their hands somewhere, with i total disregard to replacing only lobbying and pushing their bit for money. Not morals like you and me. Yes replace them totally, but !!!! sake sort it out soon. All as crooked as each other the lot of them.

Sorry i did actually type F E @K trying not to too rude and its blanked it out lol I wasnt swearing Honest. lol

The answer to your question is no, you won't get any back pay and you won't be able to buy using right to buy until at least next year, could be the year after, when it's rolled out across England.

But the discount is worked out by the number of years you've been a tenant so unless you're already at the maximum discount, you'll be able to add a couple more years.

Well to be totally honest, the uptake on the voluntary RTB hasn't been overly positive from all accounts so it may well all be a moot point anyway as they may decide the best way to sort it out is scrap it in relation to HA's and keep the RTB law as it has been since 1980.

There are also lots of Council's lobbying to scrap RTB altogether in order to protect their stock and enable them to comply with their homelessness obligations.

No one is getting rich off of right to buy (except maybe the tenants who buy with a massive discount then sell it a few years later at full market value), it's not like these properties are owned by commercial landlords or private equity funds, they are owned by social housing providers, who are not allowed to make profits.

If only I followe your advice............ Then when i p~*s myself drunk, someone can came and clean me up. you might aswell close this post now as it goes, cause i could gladly continue my waffle all day long in response to general judgement of I might be better somewhere else. How do you know, Miss Meg??? Got next weeks lottery numbers by any chance?

That is literally incoherant babble. It's no wonder the HA won't engage in meaningful conversation with you. I hope you don't come across this way in real life, although I suspect you do.

If you are so tunnel visioned that you are right, I really am not sure why you are not engaging the services of a solicitor.

I do wonder why people post on forums if they only want peope to agree with them and say how hard done by they are. That's what friends are for.

Although I must thank you for keeping me entertained on a Friday night. Clearly you are bored as well.

At least we can know see where you are going to be spending your 'entitled discount' *hic*:rotfl:
