New Car treated with Diamond Brite

First Anniversary First Post
I have recently bought a brand new car which has been treated with Diamond Brite Forever. Bottom line is I am not very impressed with it. I have used Armour All products on my previous cars and found that to give a better performance. I used to wax every 2 months and between waxes just a jetwash brought it up perfectly with excellent beading.

I am thinking of washing the car down and then applying Armour All wax on the car. What I want to know is can I do this with it having any adverse effects on the paintwork because of the diamond brite?

Thanks in advance

Please don't use a jetwash on your car; it can take the paint off. A bucket and sponge works much better and does no harm.

A bucket and sponge may damage the car as it can rub dirt and dirt into the paintwork.

Careful use of a jet washer removes the dirt without much if any scratching. You can then wash with a bucket and a clean sponge if required.

That is my opinion. There is much disagreement on this subject.

I would join one of the many car detailing forums and ask on there.

PS i wax and seal twice a year with just washes in between and the car beads all year round

Depending on what you want to achieve will dictate how you need to approach this....

If you can layer a wax on top of the coating that's there already then that's quite simple.

If however you want to remove the sealant and start from scratch it may be more difficult and require some strong chemicals, you may be better off getting a professional detailer in to avoid damaging the paint in the process.

As to jet washes damaging paint.... unless already flakey or chipped there's no reason even a high powered domestic pressure washer should cause any damage when used correctly. I wouldn't hold one millimeters away from the paint and blast away but from even 20-30cm the impact of the water is considerably less, try it on your hand (carefully and starting at a distance!)

You can put wax on top with no real problem. It might not last as long as the Diamond Brite could limit the waxes adherence to the paintwork. Why don't you just use a wax based quick detailer after you have washed the car to improve the look/finish?

Alternatively use a polish to remove the Diamond Brite and then apply Armour All as you normally do.

My Diamondbrite treated car is 8 years old now and I've been entirely happy with the treatment's durability and appearance. I've always used the after-treatments of Diamondbrite shampoo and conserver. Maybe I'm a bit idle and less fastidious.
