Very old debt paid through TBI PPI claim

I have recently been told by Capital One that a loan I had in 1998 had PPI. To cut a long story short, I defaulted on the loan quite quickly, I may have made only 2 or 3 payments to it, but it was passed to TBI financial, who I cleared the full amount with. The question is, would the full PPI policy value have been transferred with the debt, or would the policy have stopped when I defaulted? I dont have any paperwork it was a very dark turbulent part of my life I dont like to think about but hopefully some good may come of it.

If the PPI was included in the loan (single premium) then the payment would have been for loan and PPI together - you could complain about it though any money they wrote off through the debt process could be repaid out of the refund and then you'd get the remainder - all a bit complicated as it depends who had the debt

I think the best thing to do then is just wait and see and expect nothing back and anything I get back is a bonus. Thanks
