New PPI ruling - deadline pushed back

I've seen in the media that a case at Manchester county court recently means that the terms under which we can reclaim PPI are changing? 100% of commission may have to be paid back so previously rejected cases can be reopened and reclaimed. Will this mean the current PPI claims deadline of 29th August will be pushed further back or removed altogether?

No. And there's no change in the Plevin ruling.
You need to fund your own day in court if you think you have a case.0 -
The PPI Plevin case in Manchester has been covered already on this site, it does not push back the deadline for PPI complaints it just affects the odd Plevin case in a very specific set of circumstances
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No. The FCA have confirmed that the Manchester court decision will not change anything. (neither the way PPI redress is calculated or the deadline). Indeed, the Manchester case is expected to be appealed as the judgement is different to all the other cases that have gone previously.
There are some cases being placed on hold if they relate to regular premium PPI and the firm previously was only using point of sale as the date and not the payment period. However, this is a very small number of cases. The FCA consultation period on those is about 3 months from now.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
