I found this all very confusing, especially the news that Vauxhall (subsidiary of a giant mega corporation that owns Peugeot and Opel) has gone bust.

As far as I can gather, Vauxhall are still soldiering on, and the OP bought a service plan from Now Vauxhall, which was a dealership that went into administration. Some of the garages were taken over by another umbrella company and ostensibly trade under the same branding.

Usually if a bankrupt company is taken over then the new owners will honour the liabilities, including service plans and warranties, unless they just want to asset strip and offload it.

Right that make some sense. The letter Go gave me stated 'assets not liabilities' which does make me sway in their favour as it seems a prepaid plan would be a liability?
Although the fact this was produced after I'd already paid is irritating and frankly terrible management/service in general in terms of informing customers.

But the administrators are still insisting the service plans are included in the assets. And I would have assumed that a company responsible and used to handling this is better informed than a manager at a garage....

Was the service booked (not performed, booked) before or after the 1st May, when administrators were appointed?

Did you explicitly mention the service plan at the time of booking, or assume they knew?

Service was booked about a week before I had it done - well after May.
I checked with the person I made the booking with and the person who collected my car multiple times it was under the service plan.

Their excuse for that was 'well these people just don't know about stuff like that'
