GAP insurance

I bought a new car 2 weeks ago on a PCP. The car salesman offered me GAP insurance which I was keen to purchase as I don't want to risk the car being written off and still be liable to the finance company for any shortfall between the motor insurance cover and the balance on the PCP. I was on the point of accepting it, but decided to do a bit of research first.
I used this website for the first time and found Martin's article very enlightening and helpful. I took advantage of the discount promotion via this website to get details from ALA and a quote. Not only did they offer me a policy with improved cover over the one being sold by the car dealer but it was £229 cheaper. I was a little sceptical at first and wanted to ensure I would have full cover protection so called the company. The wait time for a response was minimal, the agent was knowledgeable, understanding of my concerns and walked me
through the two policy options. I got a much better deal than the dealer's offer and at a much lower price.
In Martin's article, although promoting ALA, he stated MSE still have limited feedback on this company and so requested comments from any readers. My experience was a totally positive one and, while I hope I never have to make a claim, I am of the impression that their settlement arrangements would be smooth and efficient (they have good feedback on their website). Also, the agents do not work on a commission basis so they are not incentivised to sell you the most expensive policy. I was very impressed by the way the company conducts its business and would recommend. I gave it a 5 star Trust Pilot review.

Good to know.
Anyone else used this company? Wife has a new car and we are considering them although if anything their quote looked a bit too cheap!0 -
ALA are widely used and are recommended. I personally use gapinsurance.co.uk and highly recommend them, particularly as they give an extra discount for certain car makes.
Also it's worth checking you're getting the best product for your finance. I'd recommend replacement GAP rather than RTI, especially if you got dealer/manufacturer contributions towards your purchase.0 -
She's gone for a lease so just making sure I get cover for the initial payment as well as any potential shortfall.
Still only about £115 from both companies mentioned for 12.5k cover and a grand deposit cover so well worth it even just for peace of mind!
Cheers.0
