Do I need a mobile phone to make an online transaction?

You could just use a 3rd party provider such as Paypal, where you only enter your details once, and that's it, or verified by visa, again, enter your details once, and then occasionally you may be asked to enter 2 numbers from your password, but you certainly do not need a mobile phone.
I only have to use a card reader, or take a call from my bank, if i`m setting up a payment from my bank account.
For me your problem does not exist, change provider if your not happy, its a customer focused market out there, everyone wants your money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Is this just receiving a text message or are you meant to also respond with a code to authorise the payment?
And who is the bank?0 -

1 -They would get one of these? Which plugs into the broadband they are using to make this online transaction.
or
2 - change to a network that has signal where they live.
1 - They are no longer available: I tried to get one, but EE no longer supply them. I managed to get one from a friend who changed supplier and generously gave me his. They do work.
2 - You ignore areas where there is absolutely no mobile coverage whatsoever, because companies like EE do not finance the erection of new masts, despite all their Ads starring ageing Hollywood "B" movie stars.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

My bank says it is a Visa requirement that they can't control, and will affect all visa card providers. This may be true, if Visa have interpreted the EU PSD2 (Payment Services Directive 2) rules in a particular way.
The SMS will include a code which you have to enter in the transaction.
We shall see.0
