Return/refund rights for dental purchase ?

I was recently recommended by my dentist to purchase a dental guard to prevent me grinding my teeth at night. Irrespective of the actual need for this or not (I'm in my mid-Fifties and have never been aware of grinding my teeth at night, and neither has my wife of thirty years), I have tried wearing it for three nights now since I got the guard from my dentist and have found it completely impossible to sleep with it on. So my question is, do I have any recourse in terms of returning the mouthguard and getting a refund (it wasn't cheap either !)

Three nights isn't much time to try it out. It will take longer to get used to it.0
