Blinds + curtains together

I've got a pair of French patio doors in my lounge/diner similar to this:




and I'm wondering whether get curtains and (Intu) blinds.



Does anyone else have both? Would they look stupid?


My reasoning being that there would be a leather sofa opposite so I want to avoid direct sunlight hence the blinds and I like to watch films in complete darkness hence the curtains.

We have blinds and curtains in the living and dining rooms. The blinds are vertical style and that's what we use the majority of the time. Curtains are really only used in winter to help keep the heat in.

Curtains just used in the winter to help keep the heat in and for that "cosy" feel


In the bedrooms (for sleeping! ;-) ) I like absolute darkness and our old house had a street lamp right outside, so we used to have roller black out blinds, vertical behind them, and then curtains behind them - to shut the light out.


Now we have no streetlight right outside - but we still have the vertical blinds, and curtains on top to shut out any early morning light.
