Ongoing plumbing issue...

6 weeks in new place and we have a ongoing plumbing issue. It relates to pressure, heat and a scalling issue?
Within a week, the pressure (showers only!) in my property drops, then its only cold water that comes out. Often left with a "sand" type residue around plug once water drained away.
Anyone recognise the issue? We are being told possibly a plate heat exchange issue, which is going to set us back £300-£500 and then hopefully that will recitify? Showers are full of scale so boiler might also need looking at...

I assume these aren't electric showers? Do you have a tank?0
