Advice about ppi company

Just after some advice. Back in February 2017 I stupidly contacted a ppi reclaim company. They did an initial check and advised that Lloyd’s had ppi and sent me forms. I did fill in the forms however a couple days later I received a phone call from the claims company explaining how they worked. This card was on a low monthly agreed payment. They told me then that Lloyds would pay any ppi if agreed back onto the account to lower the balance then I would be charged their fee direct. I was unaware of this until the phone call I assumed that there fee came off any payout and the remainder put to the debt.
I then emailed the ppi claims company advising in the circumstances to cancel all my claim as I would not be able to pay their fee as currently not working.
Reading their terms after signing up I could cancel as long as no offer had been made. No offer had been made in this time just that there was ppi on one of my accounts. At this time the claim had not even been advised if it would be upheld. I had a couple emails after asking me to sign paperwork for other lenders but I never did and also advised in phone I cancelled my claim. My phone number changed in November however I hadn’t had contact with them and no letters in the post. I then started to do ppi claims myself. A week ago so well over a year from the claims company I got a letter from Lloyd’s with a ppi offer. Then today received a letter from the claims company with an invoice as it seems Lloyd’s made them aware as I originally signed with the company. Can I refuse to pay the invoice due to sending an email over a year ago to cancel any claims.

Unless you have it in writing from the company that the claim is "cancelled" then you must pay them, they will chase you for it.
You signed for them to do the claim so they have done "their bit" and it is "a bit" they do, let's face it.0 -

They did not respond and say that it was cancelled so you have no proof, don't know if you would get far with your email requesting cancellation without a reply from them.
Just pay it and get rid, they will go to court if you do not pay and it is not worth it.0
