Good morning all.
It's been a little rough this week, DM is now in hospital after her GP came to see her. Actually it's good news as it means that her persistent and extremely high heart rate (130-160) is now being taken seriously. The docs were confident that a new drug regime will be effective.
It was such a relief, though very taxing! Today I'll go to see her and then go home for a couple of days.
TA - I hope you have a lovely relaxing and chatty time tonight.
After a very hot day yesterday in Glasgow, it felt like a summer day in Oz, today feels much cooler and comfortable.
I wish everyone a happy Wednesday.
sorry Gers cross posted. Hope all goes well for your mum and same old advice applies ...make sure you look after yourself first as you are no use to mum if you make yourself ill dashing around0 -
Morning everyone,
Sorry to hear that your DM is poorly Gers but as you say at least it’s now being taken seriously and she is getting the treatment she needs, take care x
It is slightly cooler and certainly cloudier here today, have a friend coming to meet Lu today so think it’s a good groom and a pampering bath time.
Other than that no much else planned, will clean the bathroom soon as we’ve had loads of those tiny black flies, thunderbugs we call them, and they seem to be attracted to the white tiles.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Gers, I hope your DM is better soon.
I'm just drinking my cuppa before whizzing the pup round the block before the heat. We went out at 8.00 last night as well and it was lovely with a bit of a fresh breeze. I'm sorry you folks with the oppressive heat but the nights here have been quite comfortable for the most part. I got back in time for extra time and penalties and can't quite believe England won a shoot-out.
I'm hoping to do lots of sewing today now DH is away and our visitors have left.0 -
Morning all, and thank you Holly. Bright and sunny here - yesterday turned out lovely.
TA, you must have your night out, it'll do you so much good.
Gers, hope your Mum will be ok.
Nelski, glad that you're seeing an improvement since you had your hip done.
I went shopping yesterday and tried on that dress in Deb*nhams, and it didn't show my wrinkly old knees, so I bought it, also a nice top from the clearance rail. I had some gift cards worth £55, and the total came to £60, so only a fiver to pay, pretty good I thought.
Also went to TKmaxx, I love that place. Saw a top I liked there and used a shopping voucher to pay for most of it. I was in the checkout queue, and moving forward to the till and I saw some small furry toys, and I thought, i'll get one for the baby, it'll be easy for him to hold. It was a furry slice of melon. So I grabbed that as I passed it and went on my merry way. I'd bought his sister a fun shaped pen in Smi*ggle.
Anyway, when I got off the bus at home I knew DD would be collecting DGD from school, so I thought I would meet them and give the children their little presents. DD took one look at the furry toy, and burst out laughing, it transpired I'd bought a dog toy!! It's going to take me a long time to live that one down! She txtd me later saying woof! woof!.
Redruby, about putting the oven on in this hot weather - I have a combi microwave, and a halogen oven, I find them so handy. I don't use the "big" oven half as much.
Hope everyone has a good day. Take care folks.0 -
Morning all,
On Monday, I learned my gran was being taken on a trip to Oban with her sister for a few days. This in turn meant that her weekly trip on a Tuesday into Glasgow with my Mum was cancelled, leaving my mum 'lost' for what to do. So I managed to get yesterday off to take her into Glasgow and go a wander around the shops and a light lunch in the sunshine. It was lovely.
Today is back to normality (gym and work). Lots of emails to catch up on so I must get on with it.
HH - I was much like yourself last night. Tossing and turning, trying to cool down. I heard filling a hot water bottle with freezing water can help parts of the bed cool. I might try that tonight.
Nelski - Glad you're doing better. Pardon the pun, but...baby steps. Nothing happens overnight so take your time with it.
Gers - She's in the right place to ensure she's on the mend.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Gers sorry to hear your mum is in hospital, but they will sort her out, a high heart beat is not good. OH used to have frequent episodes of palpitations till the Drs in hospital caught an episode as it happened, he is on medication twice a day which does the job.
Lovely and cool in the kitchen just now, the sun is blaring on the front all curtains drawn and will stay that way until late this afternoon. We are off to the coffee morning at the little chapel this morning. OH is going to pull the last lot of rhubarb to take. I froze raspberries yesterday, we decided to treat ourselves and went out for afternoon tea, so did not have rasps for dessert.
The sweet peas are just starting to flower, I have a small vase on the dresser in the hall, it has ladies mantle, lavender and a couple of sweet peas in it, the small is gorgeous. Yesterday afternoon there was a cloud of butterflies on the lavender in the front. It really needs cutting but am loth to do it.
The smoked haddock went down well last night, OH asked for mince and tatties tonight, so I will cook the mince before we go out. At least we will not have the heat from the oven in the kitchen when the sun is right round later. I have been using the remoska rather then the oven when I can.
We are sleeping ok just now. the sun moves round by mid day so our bedroom is cooler, I leave the curtains drawn the thermal linings do seem to work. By the time we go to bed its nice and cool in there. A very light duvet on the bed is fine.
Thankfully my stomach seems to have settled so it must have been the ibrufen, will not be taking any more.0 -
GERS sending special good wishes for your mum. I hope she is soon sorted out.
I pegged the bedding out about an hour ago (it got washed last night) and it definitely feels a bit fresher out there. It'll be nice to be rid of the muggy weather if only for a day! I just compiled my shopping list and to say I didn't think we needed much it's a pretty long list again! x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
 hello from the Lancashire coast!
Have taken today off work to tackle the[STRIKE] weed garden[/STRIKE] allotment...there are 2 derelict raised beds that DH is going to rebuild that have become overgrown with 5' thistles, so I have donned pink wellies, shorts & suntop & 2 pairs of thick gloves to clear themWhen that's done I will strim the paths so it looks tidier, and then I will be able to see the beds to weed them
I managed to pick over 5kg of gooseberries last night while listening to the footie!
TA hope you can find some tasty morsels to tempt Mr TA
Gers your DM is in the best place, take it easy for a few days while she's being looked after away from home

Speky, I'm sure your mum appreciates it. When DS worked in store he used to have a weekday off and we would go out to National Trust properties together, it was lovely.0

Morning all,
Gers sorry to hear your Mum is in hospital but hope she gets sorted soon. Fingers crossed.
TA enjoy your night out.
Floss good luck clearing the weeds... rather you than me! Saying that, nothing seems to be growing at the moment, in my garden at least.
All is well with me, except that nausea is back again.
Onwards and forwards,
