This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
I have decided that the only negative to this lovely weather is the heat during the night making sleeping even more of a problem for me. I’ve been awake for an hour now so have decided to get up and have a cup of tea. Other than that I am really enjoying it.
Yesterday afternoon I went and sat in the park for a couple of hours and watched people come and go. There was a nice breeze so it was really pleasant.
I’m off out for the day today. I’m going with a friend to the seaside where we plan to have lunch at a pub where we can sit outside in the shade overlooking the harbour and watch the boats coming and going. We are going to set off straight after the morning rush and make a day of it. We will probably stay there until after the evening rush as well. No point in sitting in traffic if you don’t have to.
A neighbour is going away for a long weekend and has asked me to water her plants from tomorrow until Sunday evening. Thankfully she has just got a few hanging baskets this year. In the past she has had a lot of pots and flower beds but had a lot of the garden paved over this spring.
Other than a quick bit of dusting before I go out I don’t intend to do any housework, and I don’t need any shopping as I will be eating out so a nice easy day.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Good morning chums, another warm day forecast I too find sleeping in the evening when its warm difficult.May have a nannynap later or as my OH used to say 'reading the back of my eyelids'
Well managed to get a team of five last night and we came fourth, so didn't win but kept our end up and enjoyed it.
Today will be a relaxing day I think as I just don't feel like rushing around DGS Henry is at home today so he will keep me supplied with tea(he does make a rather got pot of tea bless him) .
Had to remind DGS Ben to get his graduation gown etc ordered as the ceremony is on 19th.I had a feeling he had forgotten, but its all sorted now. Enjoy your day out today H/Harvey Good Idea to go after the rush hour ,sitting in traffic isn't much fun Right time I got that ketle on
Have a great day chums whatever you are doing

Morning folks and thanks for the even earlier start HOLLY. I hope you managed to get back to sleep. I have been wide awake since 4.00, going over the same old whys, whens and what ifs as usual. I finally gave in at 5.00 and got up.
It's forecast to be a bit cooler today (the heat due back tomorrow) so I might bring shopping day forward and go down this morning instead. Not a great deal is needed with Mr TA eating next to nothing. So just stuff for me and gallons of milk and more ice cream for his nutrishakes. Oh and more cheese as he is still able to nibble (albeit very slowly) on tiny pieces of that.
It's my first Wed of the month wine and carvery night tonight with the girls (well ok old biddies!) and he overheard me saying I thought I had better pass on it this time. He insisted I still go as he says he feels bad enough as it is having to leave all the jobs for me to do and I deserve a break now and then. He assures me he will be fine on his own and won't attempt anything stupid!
Have a lovely day out HOLLY - I wish I was going with you. We haven't been to the seaside since last September, when we stayed in North Devon, and I have serious withdrawal symptoms. Hope everyone else has a good day too and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It feels a lot cooler this morning which is very welcome. Steve has just left for work and the kids are still fast asleep. He made me a cup of tea before he left so I am sitting here with that and pondering what to have for breakfast.
My lovely cmht lady is coming to see me this morning but I don't want to go out today after all so we will just stay here and chat. Lee has the orthodontist this morning so I am hoping one of his sisters will go with him as they have nothing planned.
I am going to cook some chicken kievs, new potatoes and green beans for dinner tonight but I saw a picture of someone's roast chicken dinner on Facebook and I am now craving that so it will be put on the mealplan for this week sometime.
Holly, your day out sounds really lovely, I hope you have a fantastic time xx
TA, have a brilliant night with your 'old biddies', it sounds like it will be a great night and you need it xx
JackieO, my dad used to 'read the back of his eyelids too' thank you for the memory and enjoy your nana nap later on xx
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning everyone and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I have been up since 2. 30 but was awake for a while before that. I was hot and uncomfortable - yesterday I went back to bed after z OH got up and by that time, there was a breeze so the bedroom was nicer . I'll probably do that today.
TA I hope that the doctors might be more helpful if they can communicate. You must be so exhausted.
Holly I have arthritis, mostly in my right knee and hip but a bit on the left. Mine is manageable mostly but on a bad day I can get quite ratty. So good that your problem has a different cause.
I think I will go back to my book now, not much energy for much more.
Have good days all.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those who want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day, but sun forecast later, warm already.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was full english, the pork steaks were still not thawed properly so a good job I stopped off and bought fresh sausages, the pork has now thawed and will be tonight's dinner with some mash, veg and gravy.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, but lots of tricky queries but we got there. Working the other job today and in an office on my own, so I don't find that as pressurized, so last day before some annual leave - can't wait.
Keep safe and well x

TravellingAbuela I wish I could walk Scampi near you a few times - with a few cats around - you could stare in wonder and disbelief and the tantrums would make you laughI just wish I could do something to take your mind off your worries, even if it's just for a short while xx
A pile of paperwork has landed on my desk. What I mean by that is, screwed up receipts in a carrier bag have been dumped on the kitchen tableIf someone wants to pay me for flattening out bits of paper to make them readable, who am I to argue? lol.
It's quite cool at the moment but is going to be hot again later. I'm willing it to rain for a whole day, I don't usually bother checking the forecast but I have been lately in case a huge raincloud has suddenly been discovered heading my way
I'll get the housework done this morning then sit in front of the laptop for work. This afternoon will probably be a lazy one, the early walks and hot weather have caught up with me and I feel tired and irritable. To be honest I'm usually irritated by something so really, I'm just tired

Morning all
Lovely day here again, I have been out and topped up all the birds water I am having to do this every day atm as they are drinking so much.
Holly I have arthritis's in my knees feet and wrists it is extremely painful, my wrists are very swollen atm, so I am very pleased for you that you haven't got it xx
Quiche for dinner tonight with new spuds and salad and coleslaw so not a lot of effort there, I had to put the oven on last night to cook some chicken breast for sandwiches and it was sooooo hot, I need to try and not put it on tonight, although the others like there quiche warmed up so I may have to put it on for a while.
Rubbish and recycling are to go out this morning, and washing to go away tonight.
Have lovely days all xx0 -
Good morning all.
It's been a little rough this week, DM is now in hospital after her GP came to see her. Actually it's good news as it means that her persistent and extremely high heart rate (130-160) is now being taken seriously. The docs were confident that a new drug regime will be effective.
It was such a relief, though very taxing! Today I'll go to see her and then go home for a couple of days.
TA - I hope you have a lovely relaxing and chatty time tonight.
After a very hot day yesterday in Glasgow, it felt like a summer day in Oz, today feels much cooler and comfortable.
I wish everyone a happy Wednesday.0 -
Morning
Hip is doing really well now thanks I think walking is almost normal for the first time in years and I am even managing normal stair climbing with a bit of bannister help which is great. By normal I mean one step per leg not having to do good leg bad leg climbing. For so long stairs have filled me with dread so now hoping to be on a stair machine at the gym soonBio oiling daily now too to get rid if a pretty ugly scar.
Same old same old weather wise today which of course is wonderful its going to be odd to see clouds and rain again now.
Feeling sorry for those who make a living out of lawns at the moment mine are mostly dust now. I have a company though who comes round 4 times a year feeding the lawn and they tried to convince me that having this due treatment would mean the lawn would grow back and missing it would mean total deathAmazing how any grass survives without them....short shrift... given I am not paying to feed dust for sure.
Enjoyed some good book time yesterday and am now officially on the mocha chocolate chartToday hoping to get some more time outside depending if I can get the pile of work out of the way. My wifi printer wont print via wifi atm so need to sit in the hot office and wire print.
Had a lovely feta cheese salad last night with some pork pie and ham went a bit over the top on the size so I have the rest for lunch. Dinner will possibly be a ham salad sandwich strawberries and some crunchie ice cream
House wise nothing is getting done atm thanks to this weather but to be fair I am outside most of the day so everything can wait. Quick towel wash to do then ill crack on with the printing.0
