Following the amount of publicity given to this subject particularly on Money Saving Expert Some four months ago I took the bull by the horn and carefully went through all the steps recommended and found that my property which was banded E should have been a Band D. I rang the District Valuers office to confirm the adress I should send my letter and was told that there was no need to do that , she asked a few questions and said that her office would contact me within three months , the delay due to increased workloads because of the publicity.
Having no confidence I took the advisers name and direct number and waited expecting to have to contact again. Surprise surprise just within the three months I received confirmation letter confirming property rebanded D with effect from my purchase date August 1998 and within a further few weeks refund of about £2000 received from Local Authority.
Painless, no fighting , no arguing dead easy, gave all information to my next door neighbour and they too have been succesfull with band change E to D and should receive £3000 within a few weeks.
