Why can't I register with Gumtree?

I've tried to register with Gumtree a few times.

Each time I click on the validation link in the email they send, it says something went wrong, let's try again with a new activation email. That then just goes around in circles of emails sent and failed activation.

I couldn't find owt in their help, and the 'contact us' page doesn't appear to feature contact details.

Has anyone else had this happen?
