Goodmorning,
Wanted to ask if anyone knew about the insurance rates on houses with flat roofs, maybe there isnt any? we are having an extension done and its time for the roof, plans are for a pitched roof but struggling to find a roofer that isnt charging the moon...looks like might have to go the flat roof route, was curious if house insurance will be higher with the flat roof? I remember in our old house always had to put the percentage that was flat not sure if it ever made a price difference or if it was more for them. The new house would be about 30-40% flat
Thanks for the help sorry was long winded just wanted paint the picture :-)

You can try dummy quotes using speculative information on the aggregator sites to gauge the difference.
You may find over 25% some insurers decline to quote.0 -
If the flat roof is a relatively small amount compared to the overall roof it should have little impact although that will vary from insurer to insurer. One thing to think about is the up keep of the roof as that tends to be the issue for insurers and also tends to be why `storm` claims are turned down. If you do go down the flat roof road it maybe worth thinking about the type of construction used and looking at something like fibre glass for example. I'm sure your roofer could advise something more hard wearing to prevent future issues.0
