Redundancy after 6 weeks

Hi all

Started a new job 6 weeks ago got a called into office yesterday with he rest of the shop floor to be told the company has been making a loss for a couple years and the owners have decided to shut the place down.

Now only being here 6 weeks have I got any kind of claim to make some sort of compensation claim? As I left a full time job to come here and they must have know when they offered me the job that the place was close to be shutting down? I was told on interview they had lots of orders for parts etc and was gonna be mega busy

Any advice would be good cheers

I'm afraid after six weeks you're not entitled to any redundancy. They have give you notice as specified in your contract (and pay you for that even if they don't want you to work it), however that's likely to be quite short. They also have to pay you for holiday that you've accrued.
