Thanks, I think this was the part of the puzzle I was missing.
Solicitor had bundled up title report and various other bits and pieces while waiting for mortgage offer and responses to enquiries from vendor's solicitor. I need to sign and return some of these. Most have clearly explained gaps to be filled in at a later point but one was confusing as had been asked to fill it in but parts seems reliant on responses to enquiries.
Fair enough and well done for having the nous to find this forum and ask what you need to ask. There are some incredibly knowledgeable people on here, including an actual helpful EA; a fact I am still digesting. Do I wish I had begun to use this site years ago, on many levels.
Good luck with your move.0 -

This forum has been great, although seeing the experiences others have had hasn't done much for my general anxiety/stress levels as without knowing I'd probably would have been content to let things run their course.
Been chasing advisor for a week now, will ring again tomorrow. I'd be more than happy to take ownership for things and pursue them but have found previous conversation have tended to consist of me being told that the advisor knows everyone in local area and will deal with X,Y & Z.0 -
You did not take out a mortgage with someone the EA recommended, did you? It is beginning to sound like it.0

No, independent local firm which a friend had used a year ago and recommended based on that. Purposely avoided EA recommendations based on what I've read here. His experiences were quite different and back then they didn't charge a fee.
Impression I've been getting is they are a victim of their own success and exceptionally busy. I've been reasonable and chased things up at most once a week but getting frustrated with lack of feedback and taking a week to even just try and book an appointment they say I need. Things here shut down next week, so could be two weeks before anything progresses.
I'm getting slightly concerned that the comms I believe has been happening between them and EA hasn't been happening. If I can't get an update tomorrow will approach the EA again.0 -
Quick update, in case anyone with a similar situation happens upon this thread.
Met with advisor yesterday, went over mortgage offer and information from solicitor and was able to get enough info to own the process again and progress things.
Not 100% happy with advisor, lots of big talk and suggestions they handled end to end process but when it came down to it things I was led to expect just didn't happen. From previous conversations was told they would be speaking to EA frequently, didn't happen. Was recommended to start with valuation report (which I paid for) but not home owners report, instead get specialist for gas, electrics, etc. Wasn't provided with valuation report, so have now commissioned a home owners report. Feigned surprise at solicitors quoting for stamp duty but spoke to a colleague who is also a FTB using a different advisor and their advisor told them upfront that the solicitor I used was known for quoting for stamp duty by default.
Bit of a push for a number of different types of insurance and didn't want to take no for an answer. Seemed unhappy that I'm pretty well covered via work.
Will admit I was naive in my expectations but during original meeting was told they'd help with placing offers (which never happened), dealing with EA/Solicitor until completion and even managing when to hand in my notice for current rental. Fortunately no harm/no foul but in future will take any claims outside the remit of mortgage part with a pinch of salt.0 -
KingMob, I think you have just learned a hard lesson. It is to your credit you want others to avoid learning it the hard way.
Good luck to you.0
