Dilemma: Medsim conference

Hi there everyone, i have a slight dilemma which concerns money! Back in July i booked a 3 day medical conference (Medsim) which was being held in Nottingham the cost was around £300. Anyway i attended for most part of the first day and had to leave because i was feeling unwell. please note that i left without signing out (as i was not told to do so) anyway the next day i felt even worse i couldnt go to the conference but i failed to contact the conference staff that i will not be attending, this continued for the last day of the conference too. So my dilemma is would i be legable for a refund? I know i'm guessing my chances are not very good. Can anyone help me solve this dilemma. I really cant afford to lose all that money.

  • I very much doubt it even if you had let them know you were ill the second 2 days.

I am being somewhat cynical as I do think that you found the conference boring on the first day and decided not to attend for the rest of it. You have now suddenly decided that you cannot afford to lose £300 (I am presuming your University has failed to refund your expenses) and that you are chancing your arm by now saying that you were ill.

Most conferences give you a date that you have to cancel by to get a refund (with a fee taken off). Last one I went to was a week before so I can't see you getting a refund. You had a place reserved for you, and that place was still available

Should you have informed them of your illness at the time, they probably would have offered you an alternative date to attend, or if that wasn't possible, then a refund.

But as you didn't notify them of your illness (it was just 1 phone call - and generally what you do when you've arranged to attend something then have to change your plans!!), then I doubt there is very much you can do.

Maybe write to them, explain the situation, and see if they can offer an alternative date to re-attend the 2nd two days, as otherwise they might think you attended AND want a refund.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I doubt very much you would get a refund, you may get a little back from selling your conference bag on ebay, I attend around 15-25 medical conferences a year, and always sell the bags to students via ebay.
