Portable air conditioners - which ones are good but not too expensive?

As per title - can anyone offer any advice please? I don't want to spend a fortune but want the unit to be effective and reliable.
Also, as I'll need to pop the hose out of an open window, will I need some kind of window seal kit?
Thanks

Our hose hangs out of a small bedroom window. Didn't know you could buy a window seal kit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Which air con do you have?
Also, here's just one example of a window seal:

Found the exact model on google.

Ours is a few years old now and its rather big but it does keep the whole of the upstairs cool. Providing curtains are closed it keeps downstairs cool too.
We dont use it in room where we are watching tv as it is rather noisy.
The make is Alaska.
I'd go for the window seal if i were you. Cosmetically it would look better but i dont know if it would make much difference to the function of the unit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Means nothing to me but there you go...

Like i said, the unit is a few years old now so i doubt if the model we are using is still available. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
