Reject a car
Hi, purchased a second hand Toyota Yaris at the end of December 2017 on my credit card. Had to be bump started but said this was due to it being idle. I replaced the battery 5 days later. There was a leak under the car at the front. I took the car back, they replaced the radiator. The next day the head gasket blew. This was within 18 days of purchase. I rang and said I was rejecting the car, he said sold as seen. I sent a rejection letter, which he received within the 30 days I am allowed.
I asked HSBC to get involved, they have been so slow. Once I did this the car dealer wanted the car back to fix it. I refused as I did not want another bodged repair and I wanted a refund. I had the car checked and gave them the report, I even said I wS happy for a third party to look at it. Now, nearly six months later my claim has been refused as I did not return the car. HSBC haven't told me yet, I have had to phone them constantly for any update. I was not even aware it had been sent to Visa. I will be left paying for a car and as I am 63 and due to retire in the next three years I will not have the money to replace the car. Any positive feedback please

Surely you knew you had to return the car, or arrange for it to be collected?0

He wanted it back to repair only and advised he was not* going to allow me to reject the car. I spoke to a legal person from the AA who confirmed I should not return it as he was adamant it was sold as seen.0

My only alternative is to try to repair it but the costs my be huge and I do not know what other avenues are open to me0

Did you stop using the car when you rejected it?0

Someone has suggested a type of sealant? Is this even an option? Sorry I seem to be the only one commenting on this0

Yes I haven't used the car since, been using trains and buses to get to work.0

I don't know if it was caused by them not fitting the radiator correctly. Head gasket went the day after I got it back from them after they had fit it.0

Part of rejecting the car involves returning it. As it appears you didn!!!8217;t do that you will have to insist on your statutory rights that the dealer fixes it. Their obligation to do so hasn!!!8217;t ended just because 6 months have elapsed, especially as it died about 3 minutes after buying it.
How much was it, anyway?0
