I think this is more of an insurance claim than a claim from the hotel.
There is no evidence of what you did or didn't consume so how do you quantify what the hotel owes you?

obviously couldn't drink (we paid for AI)

Just wondering why you would pay for Artificial Insemination on a holiday?

Then realised it was All In (or was it in fact Artificial Intelligence?)!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

In comparison, at the second hotel the boat I had the accident on was swaying and bumping into the jetty, was really low down (no steps to it) and had one member of staff standing on the boat trying to help people on.

Devils advocate, however why did you attempt to board the boat knowing what you knew?

Sounds like and accident and personal responsibilty comes into play.

Claim on the insurance, can't see you have a claim against the hotel.

Ha ha, a few million? :D

No, I hate making a fuss which is why I'm posting on here! Ideally I'd like them to refund the cost of the hotel for the nights after it happened but I don't know if it's unfair to expect that...
It is, because you stayed there.

Use your insurance. That's why you bought it.

    That’s how I see it.

If it looked dodgy to get on , why didn’t you say I need more help or not get on board.

    Sorry to be blunt

Thank you for all your responses, good and bad - it’s interesting to hear different viewpoints as I was torn myself.

However I contacted the hotel with a view that I didn’t want it to happen to anyone else and they’ve been very understanding and gracious about it. They’ve assured me further safety measures have been put in place and, let’s say, I’m very happy with the outcome. :)

Just wanted to update everyone. Thanks again!

So how much did they give you? If you are "very happy" then presumably it was rather more than the medical expenses?
  • Op I think you have to take the rough with the smooth, we are talking about a small third world country with limited resources for harbouring and jetties.

But go and get a boot for your ankle and at least help give your leg/ankle some support.

Is that the only outcome you got? A bit of a weird one to be "very happy" about, given you can't really corroborate any changes they have promised you (unless you decide to go back?).

If you got more, it would be helpful to share just in case anyone else find themselves in a similar situation.

If you got nothing, you sort of got fobbed off (as much as it pains me to say, despite me leaning more towards the "accident" opinion).

I’m not legally allowed to go into detail but just wanted to update the thread as there are always so many unfinished ones.

But I’m also happy due to the way they’ve dealt with it, so many companies lack customer service skills these days. I only wish I could name them!
