Right off to bed before I start eating rubbish!
Carrots and cucumber and pepper ready for tomorrows nibbles
I do need to figure out how to turn the scales from kg to lbs (as DS1 changed them before he went!).
DIL has arrived in America, and enjoying being spoilt.
DS1 has done his first day of the new job, and appears to be enjoying it.... at least this job does not have death disclaimers..... phew!100 -
Hey, I'm following Slimming World and at the same time making some dishes/cocktails on my own.
Like yesterday I had a protein cocktail like this:
2 scoops of protein powder
1 handful ice
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 banana
2-3 frozen strawberries.
Try it; it's beyond expectations.0 -
I managed to get the scales working properly - 185.2 so plus 1.8 which I am okay with as I did have a terrible binge over the weekend.
2nd day of back on plan.... ;-))))LilTerryWhite wrote: »Hey, I'm following Slimming World and at the same time making some dishes/cocktails on my own.

Have you looked at how many syns this works out at?
We have protein powder in the house.... the only time I have tasted it was vile.... but it was not this combination.100 -
The aubergine & lentil curry was really bland when I tasted it so I ended up adding some chilli flakes & about a Tbs of my HM curry powder. At least it had a bit of heat - problem was it was all heat and not much flavour.
That's a shame Denise, I was inspired to try some of JM's recipes after your post yesterday but maybe not.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

As SSM said have you worked out the syns? The protein powder for example is 5 syns for 25g. I don't know how big the scoops are but assuming they are 25g then that's 10 syns. Because you're blitzing the banana and strawberries they also need to be synned. 1/2 a banana would be 2.5 syns, no idea how many for the strawberries so you'll have used over half your syns just on a smoothie! Sounds a waste of syns to me. I'd much rather eat real food.Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »That's a shame Denise, I was inspired to try some of JM's recipes after your post yesterday but maybe not.
Don't write off the JM recipes she has some really good recipes on her website. One of my favourites is her bean goulash. I use a tin of mixed beans but she uses kidney beans and another type of bean but can't remember off hand which. I always add a bit extra paprika as her recipes tend to be quite bland as she's cooking for a child. That particular recipe I think her little boy was only 2 or 3.
Have a look at the website and have a go at some of them. All her latest recipes are Vegan but her older ones tend to be vegetarian although there are a few meat recipes.
Well hopefully we'll be able to move our DGS today but won't know for sure until after 9 as he needs to check with the letting agent that the deposit has gone through. No idea what he'll be eating if we have to keep him another couple of days (we won't be able to move him tomorrow as we have other arrangements for Wednesday).
Anyway back to SW matters. Having another Green day today:
B - baked oats (HEB1); raspberries, strawberries & quark
L - Ryvitas (HEB2); HM hummus (2 Tbs) 4 syns; veggies sticks
D - Not sure but either LO mixed bean goulash or aubergine & lentil curry with rice
HEA - skimmed milk
HEB1 - oats
HEB2 - Ryvita
Syns - Tahini 4

:T well done on your loss B17c!Sunshinemummy wrote: »And I have been shopping on the way home so I have a fridge full of SW esp. carrots.
Good luck for Day 2.:)
Have just tried the SW chicken risotto from Iceland.
Now I love courgettes and chicken but none to keen on this.Maman - are you drinking too much fizzy drinks? I find if I drink loads of fizzy then I feel really bloated but I'm OK if I just drink squash, tea, coffee & wine!
Denise
You could be right. I just thought I should use up the tonic as it won't stay fizzy until the weekend. Sorry to hear about the curry but if we don't experiment we'll never know.:) I don't know if you have £Stretcher near you but they have mixed beans quite cheaply at the moment (29p??).
tete, I add all sorts of things to burgers depending on what I've got in. So definitely onions, sometimes spring onions, chopped capers and/or cornichons give a bit of bite and garlic. I might add parsley or some other herb and often sage when I'm doing pork burgers.
Your 'diet' is obviously working for you terry. Some people have tried SW mixed with 5:2 or with calorie counting. I remember lush giving the protein drinks (or similar) a try. I think SW review other plans too which is why they introduced EESP as a low carb version. If you've changed your eating/drinking habits since March then you can lose weight on any system so if mix and match works for you then good luck!
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB overnight oats with red berries, HEA milk for drinks
L: cold pork with fried LO veg and beetrootbaked salmon, SW chips, cauliflower steak, runner beans, mushrooms, tomato
Syns: NONE!0 -
Thanks for the chart Chris and thanks everyone for the congratulations.
Not much to add really, had friends over for the weekend and I seem to have kept within syns and managed to avoid the alcohol completely on Sunday. Luckily a work night out has been cancelled this week which I'm pleased about as I don't think I could have done that low alcohol. The way it look so far this week may be pretty much alcohol free, excepting one beer on Thursday night. Interested to see if it impacts my weight loss as I do still have quite a bit of alcohol - my syns are mostly beer and olive oil!0 -
Thanks for trialling it beanie. It was useful when tweets tried the meals when they first came out. The only one I've ever tried was the chicken jalfrezi but it was too watery for me so now I stick to Aldi.
I think I'm in the minority but I quite like the SW meals! The beef in gravy with 'veg crush', and the paella in particular. Do not have the fish pie though, it is HORRIBLE.
Thanks Maman, yeah I will definitely experiment with the burgers
And thanks Denise, will have a browse of her site. I would like to eat less meat actually so that'll be a good place to start.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
The only one I buy is the cottage pie.
