Credit check for finance employment

Anyone had a credit check conducted via Expedia for employment?

I’ve tried to do my own credit check and I’ve been unable to find myself as I’ve been of the electrical roll for 8+ years. Lived overseas. No credit either.

Thinking if it’s worth going to the interview?

The credit reference agency is called Experian, the latter is a travel partner. I know what you meant, however do not use that brand name when writing to anyone professional.

If you are not registered on the electoral roll and haven't obtained credit for over 6 years, your information may not exist on Experian's records. They have no reason to retain your data, if it ever existed, under the GDPR (or previously Data Protection Act 1998) if you've been undefined for over the statutory retention period.

Has the employer specifically stated that a credit check will be conducted? Is this a requirement of their employment criteria? Are you attempting to obtain a position related to finance or other industries built on trust and security?

Assuming the answers to the above, I would expect you wouldn't be struck off simply for this reason, however if you do not exist on the electoral roll neither the CRA's, they might have a problem with it. Quite simply, it is dependent solely on the employer. If it is a position requiring responsibility and trust, I wouldn't blame them for requiring a mandatory personal finance check - people with high-volume debt or CCJ's are more likely to partake in bribery or other ungodly activities. They do this to mitigate the risk for the whole company.

If it comes to it, explain your current position on the matter with your potential employer and discuss any options presented to you. If you are refused, I would consider making yourself known to the electoral register at-least for future benefit. You could also consider a low-usage credit card, simply for the acknowledgement of existence.
