parking charge notice, Hirer notification
frustated
Hi,
can somebody please advise on the following;
received a parking charge notice, hirer notification from VCS, to the company name and address to which the vehicle is leased to.
The contravention date is 13/05/2017, the notice was issued on 27/06/2018, so over 13 months ago!!
the charge is for parking in a disabled bay at a supermarket without displaying a badge.
Due to the alleged incident date, I'm genuinely unaware who the driver was? as the vehicle is a company pool car which a number of employees have access to.
What should I do??

Please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES, and follow the advice from a poster called edna basher which details the method to appeal a PCN for a hire/lease vehicle.
Do not, under any circumstances, mention the driver's identity in any correspondence.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

i was thinking of totally ignoring the notice as it's been over a year since the incident took place,
would you advise against this?0 -
Since the scammers have six years to try court, you may find this comes back to bite you in the future, especially if you move home.
Where a lease/hire vehicle is concerned I wouldn't advise ignoring as "somebody" may decide to pay the invoice and send you the bill.
I would suggest writing to the scammers pointing out that the NTK is too late to transfer liability to the keeper, so they should take this up with the driver who will not be named.
See what others say, but I would be wary of ignoring it.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Absolutely NOT, in a lease case:received a parking charge notice, hirer notification from VCS, to the company name and address to which the vehicle is leased to.

If you do not reply as hirer/lessee, VCS might revert to the lease firm where a Fleet Manager will just pay it. And charge you. Or, you will be sued anyway, so you may as well gather evidence and respond as hirer/lessee (NOT DRIVER).
I would be ringing the Lease firm and asking what letters they received and when, and did they name the wrong hirer initially in 2017 or did they ignore it until a threat of court arrived, then name you as hirer at the last gasp?
Ask the Fleet Manager who leases this vehicle to you, for emailed copies of the letter(s) the Lease firm received from and sent to VCS - you are entitled to these under the GDPR. It will then become clear why VCS have written so late, and you might see photos sent to the Lease firm that you haven't been shown yet.
Bottom line - don't ignore it but DO NOT WRITE AS DRIVER!
You will need to acknowledge the PCN and that you were the hirer/lessee at the material time and ask for evidence from VCS of any contravention by the driver (all photos, and a close up of the signage terms and the marked lines at the disabled bay).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
