I like the idea of using a leading rein as a longer lead. Pup is a 7mth old English Bull/ Staffie cross who has discovered he can use his teeth to bite through material leads!
I have to say that I'm a little concerned about letting him run free when I walk him alone, but I don't think an extending lead will hold him for much longer.
On the plus side, Teecha sez he's getting more betterer at skoolFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Hi
I have 2 large dogs - a doberman 11 months old and a golden retriever 14 months old.
My dogs are friendly with people and dogs and are generally reasonably well behaved for 2 bouncy adolesants.
As pups no one cared if they bounced over to greet there dogs but now they are bigger even though they are friendly I worry that people will just see 2 huge dogs coming towards them and it really upsets me to see people picking up there small dogs when mine are frindly and theres are generally the growling ones but I also do respect them if they do now want there dog to greet other dogs...
I have recently bought 2 60 ft leads on ebay - they came quickly and just give me that peace of mind... they can run but I also have full control.
You can also double them to make shorter 30 ft leads...
here is the link - it may be a possible solution for you and you can also teach recal with the aid of the lead..
